Since the Facebook page is about to reach 2,000 likes and it’s my 30th birthday month this September, I thought of celebrating these “milestones” with a simple photography contest.
The theme will be “Overflowing passion for art.” It could be a ballerina performing, a painter, or someone expressing their love for art. The FILM photograph that best depicts the theme will win. Of course, like any contest, there will be a criteria for us to pick the winner.
- Creativity – 50 points
- Adherence to the theme – 25 points
- Technique – 25 points
Points will be deducted for any imperfections such as an under exposed photo, blurred subject, etc, UNLESS specified by the photographer. Highest score wins. In case of a tie, photographs will be re-evaluated under the same judging system. Digital photographs will be disqualified.

To join, all film photographs must be processed by Sunny16 Lab (because it’s easier for me to verify the photo that way). Once you receive your photos from them, email your best entry to firstname.lastname@example.org. Lastly, you’ll have to like/follow Film Traveler on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as Film Folk’s Facebook page.
Deadline of submission of entries is on 11:59 p.m. December 1, 2017. This contest is open for film photographers nationwide.
All entries will be judged by a 3-person panel which includes myself, Film Folk’s Aislinn Chuahiock, and another guest judge.
[UPDATE 9/11/2017 10:13 a.m.] – An angel answered our prayer for prizes. Film Folk will be adding 2 rolls of Agfa Vista 400 and 2 rolls of Fujicolor C200.
Runner-up will receive 1 roll of Agfa Vista 400 and 1 roll of Fujicolor C200.
Film Traveler reserves the right to change the mechanics without prior notice.
