Well, this has been one hell of a week for the world of film photography, don’t you think? The return of Polaroid, as well as KODAK Ektachrome and new instant camera PRINTOMATIC is indeed a good sign for us.
But it looks like the hype hasn’t stopped just yet as legendary brand Yashica has teased us with something so vague, it’s hard not to miss it.
Yashica released a series of videos last month entitled “The Silence of Story.” It features a woman holding the brand’s revolutionary Electro film camera taking it around the streets of what seems to be Japan.
Towards the end of the video, it shows several cameras by the brand including its Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera and 2-in-1 100-degree wide angle and macro lens for smartphones, which costs a just $47.1 (around P2,412).
What could this mean? Could it be that Yashica is also making a comeback into the film industry? Or are they moving to developing digital cameras and lenses? Whatever the case, it would be nice to see stores selling brand new Yashica cameras in the future, whether digital or film.
